Alma Cothias is the founder and Managing Attorney of Cothias Law, LLC, where she focuses on U.S. immigration law. She represents individuals and families before the Immigration Court and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), with an emphasis on practical guidance, responsive communication, and personalized representation.
Before founding Cothias Law, Alma practiced removal defense at a Boston-area immigration law firm. She previously served as Senior Director of Immigrant Services at Jewish Family Service of Metrowest, where she led refugee resettlement and immigrant-services programs and helped immigrants and refugees access legal, humanitarian, and community resources.
Born and raised in Albania, Alma is a first-generation immigrant whose own journey informs her client-centered approach. She understands that an immigration case is not simply paperwork. It can shape a person's future and the well-being of an entire family.
Alma earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from the University of Massachusetts Boston (2012), a Juris Doctor from the Massachusetts School of Law (2016), and a Master of Business Administration from Suffolk University (2018). She is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts.
In her free time, Alma enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and trying new foods.
